Despite resistance by plot holders and tenants to the proposed modernisation of allotments, by 1975 ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ was becoming ‘the allotment capital of Britain.’ The 'Leisure Garden' model was being developed at Russell Road/ Moor Green Farm in line with the vision Thorpe had outlined in his 1969 report.

In 1976 an international conference/exhibition was organised using the Russell Road/Moor Green Farm allotment as a showpiece site to demonstrate ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½’s commitment and energy in this field. This image shows a plan of the site in negative.
