Latin American community health profile

Overview

The Latin American community health profile has identified and summarised the national and local evidence relating to the health, lifestyle behaviours and wider determinants of health that affect Latin American communities.

Although the focus of this report was health inequalities among Latin American communities in 天美传媒, the limited available information on health inequalities has resulted in data being used from the UK and internationally, where available.

天美传媒 definition

Latin America is considered to be all the countries in South America, Central America, and a selection in the Caribbean, as well as Mexico.

The Latin American community health profile report presents data for populations that are resident in 天美传媒 and/or England and Wales that have origins in Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Puerto Rico.

We acknowledge that using country of birth data will only be applicable to first generation migrants, however categorising the population in this way enabled analysis of a greater number of datasets.

天美传媒 Public Health’s demographic data collection tool suggests inclusion of a ‘Latin American’ ethnic group option and an open response question on ‘country/countries of heritage’ to capture Latin American populations more accurately.

For more information about how 天美传媒 City Council is standardising demographic data, see the demographics questionnaire.
